I have a question, during the mixing process of a track in the master channel (bus master) of the sequencer you insert any plugins (limiter, compress etc... ) ? . Or does the master channel without any plug inserted?. Thanks
It depends on what we're working on, but we often like producing with a nice plug-in chain on the end bus, just to feel the vibe. But it is wise to put at least a limiter/maximizer on your end bus to avoid clipping. We love the characteristics of the UAD's Precision series, but a L2/L3 by Waves will also do the job.
Here is an example of what our chain could look like:
- Brainworx Digital if we need final control over the stereo field
- UAD Fairchild / UAD Moog filter SE / UAD Pultec if we would want to get it to sound more analogue and/or to tighten up the sounds even more
- Waves Renaissance EQ or UAD Cambridge EQ if we need to cut some annoying frequencies
- UAD Precision Maximizer if we need to beef things up a bit
- UAD Precision Limiter to avoid clipping and create more cohesion between the individual sounds
-Waves PAZ Analyzer to keep an eye on the signals and stereo field
You will have to keep in mind that leveling is somewhat different if you are producing with a whole bunch of plugs on your master. Especially if you use heavy compression on your end bus. The mix will change drastically with one track just 1db up or down. I guess this this is why some producers don't like working with much stuff on their end bus. I have spoken with producers who don't use any plugs on their end bus (except one for tiny limiting), they just do their leveling and panning and leave everything to (external) mastering and I have spoken with producers who only use their chain of plug-ins and don't border mastering afterwards. I even know producers who don't do mixing at all! They just make a render of all individual tracks and send everything to a mixer/master studio...
So like always: there is no rule, you'll have to find an (affordable...) way of working that suits you and gives you the results you are looking for.
RAF hello, thanks for your reply:) I think for now will I start by setting a limit only in the BUS MASTER (UAD BUS COMPRESS) for example by reducing a-3db. so according to you and help you CLiping the sounds to sound one another a little more compact ...

I have little doubt is that when I listen to any music track, sound like a very wide field stereo in my monitors, but when I do a sim track (stereo) has no such range stereo is heard in any commercial track, as is done eso ¿? with any stereo expander plugin ? THANKS

I would also like to know if the process you make a sound is in order.

EQ + COMPRESS + LIMITER ...
or
COMPRESS + EQ + LIMITER ...
I use a EQ + Compressor + Multiband Compressor + Maximizer + EQ (to cut off everything under 20-25 Hrz) + Limiter
